Expert in schaalbare en betrouwbare infrastructuren gezocht! Werk aan de technische ruggengraat van Webador, beheer GoogleCloud, en zorg voor stabiliteit, snelheid en veiligheid voor 270.000+ klanten.

Job description

JouwWeb is looking for a Lead Platform Engineer

Are you an expert in building simple, scalable, and reliable infrastructure? Do you want to shape the technical backbone of Webador, so we can effortlessly quadruple our current customer base?

Your Role

As a Senior Infrastructure Specialist, you’re the technical expert who ensures our systems can handle Webador’s rapid growth with ease. Your primary mission is to design and manage our infrastructure so we can scale 2x, 3x, even 4x - without a hitch. You’ll be responsible for the stability, speed, sustainability, and security of the services that support our 270,000+ customers, and you’ll play a key role in turning our international ambitions into reality.

This role starts within the product team, alongside our current infrastructure specialist. You’ll take the lead and gradually grow the team as needs evolve. Working closely with our CTO, you’ll have the autonomy to implement technical solutions that are both effective and scalable. In doing so, you’ll follow one of our core principles: we keep things simple - in our solutions and in how we work. We don’t overcomplicate things for the sake of it, and we avoid unnecessary meetings and bureaucracy.

Your Responsibilities

  • Architecture
You’ll ensure our infrastructure scales smoothly alongside our fast-growing user base. The systems you design should be ready to handle double the traffic and customer load within the next two years - without breaking a sweat.

  • Operations & reliability
You'll take the lead in managing and optimizing our Google Cloud infrastructure. As the person ultimately responsible for uptime, you'll continuously improve processes around backups, disaster recovery, and CI/CD.

  • Cost management
It’s your job to keep infrastructure costs per customer low and ensure our cloud budget is used efficiently.

  • Security
You’ll make sure we’re secure and prepared for whatever comes our way.

Who We're Looking For

  • You have a strong preference for simplicity - in both your tech choices and your way of working. You regularly ask yourself, “Could this be simpler?” and you deliberately choose robust, sustainable solutions rather than overly complex ones. Our decision not to use Kubernetes (for now) reflects this mindset; we use technology that works for us, not the other way around.

  • You're a hands-on, experienced specialist who enjoys solving complex problems.

  • You have a solid background in programming. Deep PHP knowledge isn’t required - we believe a good programmer can pick up a new language quickly.

  • You’re passionate about Linux, virtualization, and building reliable systems.

  • You're willing to step in when things go sideways. We don’t have a formal on-call rotation yet, and support is currently best-effort - but maybe you're the one to introduce it?

  • You naturally take ownership, and you're capable of driving work forward - both independently and as part of a team.

Our Tech Stack

You will work with technologies such as:

  • Cloud & Hosting: GCP, Docker Swarm, HAProxy, Terraform, Ansible, Kamal

  • Application & Database: PHP, MySQL (Managed Google Cloud SQL), Redis (Managed Google Memory Store)

  • CI/CD & Monitoring: CircleCI, DataDog, BetterStack

  • Mail & CDN: Dovecot, Postfix, RSpamd, Fastly

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary (€5,250 - €6,250 FTE), plus attractive benefits

  • An annual training budget equal to 5% of your salary to invest in your growth

  • Enjoy hybrid working from our Strijp-S office or from the comfort of your home

  • A relaxed atmosphere with fun team events, Friday afternoon drinks, fresh fruit, and more

  • A professional yet informal working environment with a flat organizational structure - and no unnecessary meetings
